In English we are going to be reading Stone Age Boy. In class on Monday we wrote a prediction of what we thought would happen in the story. Can you write a conversation that might happen between the modern boy and the Stone Age girl when they first meet? Remember our rules for speech. New speaker, new line. Punctuation inside the inverted commas. Use synonyms for said.

For example:

"Hello, what's your name?" asked the girl kindly.

"My name is Tom. Where am I?" replied the boy worriedly.

"You are in my family's field," explained the girl gently.

"I'm scared, " cried the boy.

"What are those on your face?" questioned the girl.

Maths

In maths, we are still developing our multiplication and division skills. On Monday we practised multiplying by 10. Answer these questions.  What patterns do you notice?

3 x 10 = 30                5 x 10 = 50                9 x 10 = 90

8 x 10 = 80                12 x 10 = 120          24 x 10 = 240

15 x 10 =                   27 x 10 =                 36 x 10 =

41 x 10 =                  32 x 10 =                  21 x 10 =

13 x 10 =                  40 x 10 =                  26 x 10 =

28 x 10 =                  39 x 10 =                  72 x 10 =

20 x 10 =                  31 x 10 =                  28 x 10 =

17 x 10 =                  22 x 10 =                  61 x 10 =

25 x 10 =                  19 x 10 =                  50 x 10 =

PE days

Children will have PE on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Children need to bring in full PE kit for each PE day. Full PE kits consists of a white t-shirt, black/dark blue shorts or leggings and black pumps or trainers.

Reading

Please bring your reading book to school every day so we can read with you.

Please read a few pages at home every day and ask an adult to sign your reading record.

Five Reads

Each half term, each year group has 5 new picture books to read daily during story time. These picture books are age appropriate and often link to the current learning for each year group. This ensures the children are exposed to a wide range of genres and authors across the year and develop confidence in knowing a variety of stories in greater depth. These ‘5 reads’ books are further celebrated in a half termly assembly to share the cohort’s favourite book of the half term and to receive their new ‘5 reads’.

King of the Swamp by  Catherine Emmett | How To Wash A Woolly Mammoth by Michelle Robinson | Stone Age Bone Age by Mick Manning | The First Drawing by Mordicai Gerstein | The Wild by Yuval Zommer

Children are encouraged to complete this as soon as possible and try to hand in before Wednesday but Friday at the latest.
